Terms of service

The terms on which the firm's staff and its clients may use this system.

What this is

This is the compliance management system of SKN & Company, Chartered Accountants. It is private software, operated by the firm for two groups of people: the firm’s own staff, and clients the firm has given portal access to.

It is not offered to the public, there is nothing to sign up for, and no fee is charged for using it. Access is granted by the firm and can be withdrawn by the firm.

What it does, and what it does not

The system tracks statutory compliance work: what is due, who is doing it, when it was filed, and what acknowledgement it produced. It stores the documents that go with that work and lets clients see them.

Being plain about the limits matters more than a longer list:

  • It does not prepare or file returns. Returns are prepared and filed on the government portals. This system records and evidences that work; it does not perform it
  • It is not tax advice. Nothing shown here — a due date, a status, a figure — is advice. Advice comes from the firm, in writing, on the engagement
  • The dates are the firm’s working calendar, not the law. The system holds the ordinary statutory deadlines and is updated when CBDT or CBIC extends one, but the statute and the notification always govern. A date on this screen does not relieve anyone of a deadline
  • It does not raise invoices or take payment

Using it

An account is personal to whoever it was issued to. Anyone using it agrees to:

  • Keep their password to themselves and not let anyone else sign in as them
  • Tell the firm at once if they think someone else has got into their account
  • Look only at records they are meant to see, and not attempt to reach anything else
  • Not probe, scrape or attack the system, and not upload anything harmful
  • Upload only documents relevant to the work in hand — the limit is 25 MB per file

Staff activity is recorded permanently, including status changes, uploads and any viewing of a client’s government portal credentials. That record cannot be edited or deleted by anyone.

Documents

Documents are stored in a Google Drive account belonging to the firm. The firm retains them in line with its professional obligations, and a client may ask for a copy of anything held for them at any time.

Nothing is overwritten. Re-uploading a corrected document creates a new version and keeps the previous one, so the history of a filing stays intact.

Reaching clients

The firm contacts clients by email about their filings. A client may also agree to be contacted on WhatsApp, and can withdraw that agreement at any time without affecting anything else. Messages sent through the system are records of work done — they are never marketing.

Availability

The firm intends this system to be available whenever it is needed, but gives no guarantee of uptime. It depends on services the firm does not control, and may be unavailable for maintenance or for reasons beyond the firm’s reach. A deadline is not extended because this system was unavailable — if something cannot be done here, it is done directly with the firm.

Responsibility

The firm’s professional responsibility to a client is governed by the engagement between them and by the rules of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. Nothing on this page enlarges or reduces it.

This system is a tool the firm uses to meet those obligations. To the extent the law allows, the firm is not liable for loss arising from the system itself being unavailable, from information a client has entered incorrectly, or from an account being used by someone it was not issued to.

Ending access

The firm may suspend or withdraw an account at any time, and will do so when a member of staff leaves or an engagement ends. A former client’s records are retained as described in the privacy notice.

Changes

These terms may change as the system does. The date at the top shows when they were last revised, and continuing to use the system after a change means accepting it.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts at Delhi have jurisdiction.
